What is the Dodge Hornet?
The 2023 Dodge Hornet is the brand’s first ever electrified performance vehicle. The two models include the Dodge Hornet R/T plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and the Dodge Hornet G/T. The all-new version of the Dodge Hornet is the brand’s way of evolving from their typical lineup of muscle cars. Let’s take a further look at each of the available models:
Dodge Hornet R/T
The R/T gets 285-plus horsepower and 383 lb. ft. of torque while powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The R/T also offers more than 30 miles of all-electric range through the 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery.
Performance is key with Dodge vehicles and the Hornet certainly doesn’t fall short with the on-demand PowerShot feature that sends a jolt of 25 additional horsepower upon acceleration. Drivers also have the option of three hybrid driving modes, Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save.
Dodge Hornet G/T
The Hornet G/T is fueled by the Hurricane4 engine which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four cylinder that is considered the segment’s most powerful gas engine. The Hurricane4 reaches 265-plus horsepower and gets 295 lb. ft. of torque.
When drivers shift into Sport Mode the G/T gives a sharper throttle, optimized shifts, tighter steering, and electronic limited slip differential. The Hornet G/T also features a fully electronic nine-speed transmission and standard AWD.
