History of the Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted for the 1993 model year as a luxury model in Jeep’s lineup. While many SUVs of this period were body-on-frame construction, the Grand Cherokee has always had a unibody chassis. As a luxury model, the original Grand Cherokee models offered amenities that were cutting-edge and upscale for the time such as keyless entry, heated mirrors, power front seats, digitized climate control, and premium interior accents. Through the years, the Grand Cherokee has seen several generations and numerous updates, and it continues to be an upscale, capable contender in the crowded American SUV scene.
