When your vehicle needs these services, it will usually let you know with dashboard lights or typical signs and symptoms most people are familiar with. But there is another set of preventative care tasks that are just as important. For these tasks, most manufacturers recommend using the 30/60/90 maintenance schedule. Below is a general example of what that looks like, but if you want more specific intervals, check your owner's manual.
Oil and Filter Change:Older vehicles that use traditional motor oil will need oil change services every 3,000 miles. Modern cars, on the other hand, use synthetic oil and will likely only need an oil change once every 5,000 to 6,000 miles.
Tires and Wheels:The intervals for tire and wheel services such as tire rotations, wheel alignments, and tire replacements are heavily influenced by your driving habits, and most manufacturers recommend keeping an eye on them with regular checks for tire pressure and tread depth. Tire rotations are recommended every 6,000 to 8,000 miles to ensure longevity and even wear.
At 30,000 Miles: Once your vehicle has traveled between 15,000 to 30,000 miles (shorter for drivers who live in dusty conditions), it's time to check your air and fuel filters. Based on your technician's recommendations, you should replace them to ensure your vehicle runs smoothly.
At 60,000 Miles: Once your odometer reading is past 60,000 miles, it might be time to replace your battery. You can schedule battery testing with us along with a quick inspection of your vehicle’s fluids—brake fluid, transmission fluid, and coolant. When you reach 60,000 miles, it might be time to replace your vehicle’s battery. During this time, you should also have your technician examine your brake pads for excess wear.
At 90,000 Miles: At 90,000 miles, belts and hoses need to be inspected and possibly replaced. That includes your drive belt, timing belt, and serpentine belt. You should also ask your technicians to examine your power steering fluid and spark plugs/ ignition system components.
